Diedrich Holgate, 47, was taken back to jail on new charges after being released to a Portland halfway house on January 21. He had been convicted and sentenced last year for making multiple threats to the president during 2024, authorities say.
Prosecutors say Holgate made social media posts, direct messages to the White House and calls to the U.S. Secret Service. During a June 2024 call to the Secret Service's Washington Field Office, he told agents, "The president is going to die," and reportedly added, "I have the right to kill the president. I don't care if it is Trump or Biden."
