The ring inspired Garrard's 1735 line and later the Blaze collection, with the house citing Diana's elegance as influence. Celebrities such as Penélope Cruz, Elizabeth Hurley and Gwyneth Paltrow have since favored blue sapphires.
After Diana's death in 1997 the ring passed within her family: Prince Harry inherited it and later gave it to Prince William for his 2010 proposal to Kate Middleton. Kate called it "very, very special" and continues to wear it, while Harry incorporated two of Diana's diamonds into Meghan Markle's engagement ring alongside a Botswana-sourced center stone.
